National program qualifies Zhuhai sci-tech innovators

Five Zhuhai entrepreneurs have been selected as candidates for an ambitious national plan to bolster innovative talents, according to the Ministry of Science & Technology.

Fang Haizhou, chairman of Essex Bio-Pharmaceutical; Jiang Guibin, chairman of Zhuhai Enpower Electric; Cui Yan, founder and CEO of Zhuhai 4D Age Technology; and Lei Zhen, chairman and general manager of Zhuhai Nanometals Technology, all with facilities in the Zhuhai National Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone, Tangjiawan, are listed as sci-tech innovative and entrepreneurial talents.

Wang Haibo, chairman of Zhuhai Guojia New Material, located in Sanzao Science & Technology Industrial Park of Jinwan District, is listed as well.

Altogether, they took five of 212 spots nationally. And, they are each enrolled in the Special Support Plan for Cultivation of High-level Talents in Guangdong.

The 2017 Innovative Talent Promotion Plan also selected 323 young and middle-aged sci-tech innovative industry leaders, 54 innovative teams in key areas, and 30 demonstration bases for cultivating innovative talents.

Zhuhai candidates were well informed about the application and selection processes when it started in January last year. Many entrepreneurs applied on their own while others were recommended by the development zone's administrative committee.
